Sudbury Landfill Solar Installation
Client: Conti Construction
Project Description: Site work contractor for the installation of a 1.5 MW solar development on former town landfill.
The solar arrays consisted of ground mounted racking supported on precast ballast blocks. More than 800 precast ballast blocks were set for racking support. Only low ground pressure equipment could be operated on the landfill in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Post-Closure Use Permitting Guidelines. TFCI constructed two temporary and one permanent access road and three concrete foundations for inverters. Work was performed adjacent to the town’s operating Transfer and Recycling Center.
The project was completed on time and with no damage to the landfill cap.
