Oak Island — RAM Mitigation

Client: Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA)
Location: Revere, MA
Project Description: General contractor for the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MPC) site remediation/RAM mitigation of the Oak Island Salt Marsh.
More than 11,000 cubic yards of sediment were excavated and disposed of in a lined landfill, following all MCP characterization and classification protocols. Because of permit restrictions, the work could not begin until after October 1. Despite this, the project was completed expeditiously, ahead of schedule, and under budget. This important compensatory flood storage project is likely to serve as a model for future installations and remediations of some adjacent properties.
